Up Close
and Personal® is the second in a series of educational
videos that provide practical, proven, real-life information on the
most effective ways to create residential and commercial living environments
for people with disabilities and the aging population.
The essential
first step in designing accessible environments is determining how the
space will be used. Up Close and Personal® takes you step-by
step through the process of assessing your clients' activities of daily
living (ADL's). Families share their unique needs in an up close and
personal manner. Watch each assessment process and the family dynamics
unfold as the host shares:
- How
to effectively communicate with a client about their disability and
personal needs
- How
to walk through a home initially to determine potential environmental
barriers
- How
a contractor interviews a husband and wife who use assistive communication
devices
- How
an occupational therapist obtains critical measurements of a 9 year
old girl who is paraplegic and uses a manual wheelchair
A client assessment and measurement form are included!
